In 2026, the Black Box Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2007, it has gone through various stages, evolving into one of the most recognizable and distinctive festivals for international theatre and contemporary dance in Bulgaria. 20th edition of the Black Box Festival will be held from June 2 to 12, 2026 in Plovdiv.
The new edition features international and Bulgarian works in the fields of theatre and contemporary dance from Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Spain and UK.
The Black Box Festival is part of the official 2026 cultural calendar of the city of Plovdiv.
The festival's partners are the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, Municipality of Plovdiv, Ivan Vazov National Theatre, Plovdiv Drama Theatre , State Puppet Theatre Plovdiv, National High School of Stage and Film Design and U P.A.R.K Gallery.
