NATURE/ROOT-LESS

Nature

Ioannis Karounis, through his work Nature, illustrates the tendency of modern humans to consume. This frenzy of society to consume leads to the final change of human nature both physically and mentally. The consumer drifts into an inexhaustible lifestyle at the expense of the hosting planet.

Root-Less

The work is based on the alternation of body positions from darkness to light and vice versa. It is a connection that you make on stage with the root of each person (past) but at the same time with its branches and sexes (Future). A necessary connection that makes man balance and thus understand the present.

Ioannis Karounis is a performer, choreographer and co-artistic director of the International Dance Film Festival - ATHENS VIDEO DANCE PROJECT. He studied dance in Jacob's Pillow Dance School (Massachusetts - US), in National School of Dance (Greece) and in Kontaxaki Professional Dance School (Greece). He has collaborated with many artists from Greece and abroad such as Marina Abramovic, David Zambrano, Ted Stoffer, Rafika Chawishe, Michael Kliën, Ermira Goro, Georgia Sagri, Athanasia Kanellopoulou, Hermes Malkotsis, Apostolia Papadamaki etc.
